What is a Steelman frame?
Every Steelman
frame, fork, and stem, is built by me, Brent Steelman. I have
been creating hand made bicycles for over 25 years. With every frame I build the emphasis is on subtly
tuned ride characteristics, perfect rider fit, and a quality
of construction attained by few other builders. To me, the entire
custom bicycle experience should be natural and unforced, drawing
from my knowledge and experience and the customers expectations. |

What types of frames and bikes do I build?
Since nearly every frame I make
is a custom order, I will build almost any type, but my emphasis
and experience is in road, cyclo cross, track/fixed gear, mountain,
touring, and commuting. Please visit at our "bike
of the week" archive to see examples. |

What frame materials do I use?
All Steelman frames, forks, and
stems, are made from high strength steel tubing. I prefer steel
for many reasons. Steel has been in continuous use longer than
any other bike frame material. It boasts a proven set of strength
and performance characteristics. Because of steel's rich history
and focused industrial development, it is offered in a vast array
of alloys, tube diameters, shapes, butting profiles, etc... It
is a living material with continual research developing new high
performance alloys such as Columbus XCr and Reynolds 953. Most
importantly is the magical ride quality of steel that all other
bike frame materials use as a benchmark. |

What frame construction methods are available?
Your Steelman frame can be constructed using either tig
welding or traditional lugs. Steelman
tig welding is super strong and light weight, with a clean minimalist
look. Traditional lugged construction is durable and elegant
with great opportunity for artistic expression. |

How to order a Steelman frame or complete
bike:
To start the order process for your Steelman custom frame or
bicycle, you can call us, send an email, or make an appointment
to visit our shop. I encourage you to place a deposit (50% of
the frame or complete bike price) as soon as you have made the
decision to purchase a frame or bike from us so your position
is secured for a timely delivery. Details like design, materials,
and paint are dealt with after your deposit is received. Please
contact us for current delivery times. Go
to frame, fork, and stem price list.
I am happy to build frames based on geometries provided by the
customer. Alternatively, in depth fitting services are available
to our clients. I take the fitting process very seriously and
consider a personal session at our shop ideal. If a visit to
our shop is not practical for you, I encourage you to use our
order
form. The information you provide on the form, in combination
with an interview, is used to develop a clear picture of your
dream bike. Whether you come in for a fitting or order remotely,
a perfect fit and inspiring performance is guaranteed.

the whole, I specialize in providing completely outfitted ready-to-ride
bicycles. Take advantage of my 30 years of experience as a bike

ON VALUE:
The added value of purchasing and riding a made to measure custom
built bike cannot be overstated! The truth is you can spend more
of your hard earned money on a big name mass produced bike made
in China. The advertising propaganda and pro team use may be
compelling, but these bikes are cheaply made production line
products designed for a nonexistent "average" cyclist.
If you want more from your bike, and you like the idea of knowing
who made it, and that it is unique to you, then the debate is
over.
